What is a hernia?
Hernia, is a weakness in the abdominal wall muscles that progresses to become an opening (hole), allowing abdominal contents to bulge out under the skin.
Hernia symptoms
Hernia may be unnoticed by patients, till it becomes bigger or causes pain.
Sometimes the first symptom of hernia is strangulation (intestine becomes trapped in the hernia, loses its blood supply and becomes gangrenous), that is why we recommend repairing most hernias, even if asymptomatic.
