Laser Scar Removal: the day of treatment:
At least 4 weeks prior to your appointment, discontinue unprotected sun exposure, tanning beds and tanning creams on the areas receiving treatment.
The treatment will begin with the provider guiding the IconTM handpiece over the treatment area. During this process, the laser will be delivering energy into your skin.
The treatment can be performed in as little as 30 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. Typically, you may resume your daily activities immediately following the treatment session.
Clients who undergo the procedure typically resume their normal activities immediately following the session, making this a simple procedure that fits today’s busy lifestyles.
You may feel nothing during treatment or mild discomfort. Follow up treatment sessions should be scheduled 3-6 weeks apart if needed. Most people require 4 to 8 treatment sessions for desired results depending on the scar.
What to expect after your scar removal surgery.
You may experience temporary redness and swelling at the treatment site which should last only a few days. Post treatment instructions will be provided to manage pain if necessary. You may also experience some redness and/or swelling a few days after at the treatment site but this typically resolves by the third day.
Gentle cleansing and use of non-irritating cosmetics are permitted after treatment.
Avoid sun exposure on the treated area and use a sunscreen SPF 45 or greater at all times throughout the course of treatment.
